Surgery Information: Common Concerns

All Surgeries Are NPO (No eating or drinking after midnight before your surgery.)

Please arrive to the hospital admissions area at least one hour prior to surgery.

Handicapped Tags - If your type of surgery or disability qualifies you for a handicap tag, you make take advantage of this benefit by visiting your local or calling DMV and obtaining the proper forms. Once you have completed the required forms and either send or bring them to our office for the physician's signature. For more information regarding these tags, you can visit the Florida Department of Highway Safety and Motor Vehicles website.

Insurance Coverage for Your Surgery - The individual coverages of insurance companies vary. If you have questions about your specific coverages, make a list of them before calling your company to clarify your coverage. You may want to verify the coverage of Durable Medical Equipment and Physical Therapy at this time.

Pain Relief After Surgery - It is our goal to make your surgery and recovery as comfortable as possible. With that in mind, you will want to discuss this information in detail, with your surgeon prior to surgery, so that you know what to expect. Also ask about getting post-surgery prescriptions in advance, so that you may have them ready when you go home. The pre-operative education course also details pain relief practices.
